Float The Highlands Tour 2026

Tuesday 30 June – Thursday 2 July 2026

After a successful trial run as “Float Around the Highlands”, we’re excited to launch the official Float The Highlands Tour 2026 — three unforgettable days of social riding through some of the most breathtaking landscapes Scotland has to offer.

Join us in the Glencoe area for a relaxed, scenic, community-focused adventure led by former Glencoe local James Pitcher (The Highlander) and members of the UK Float Events team.

Each day we’ll publish the start location, meeting time, and route highlights so you know exactly what to expect.

This is a social tour, not a race, and it will take you to terrain and locations you won’t experience during the Race Event.

🏔 Overview

What’s Included

We’ll guide you across a mix of trails, viewpoints and hidden gems throughout Glencoe. You’ll be responsible for your own accommodation, food, and transport during the tour.

Is the Event Limited?

Yes.
To keep the tour safe and manageable, spaces are limited to 30 riders.
Tickets are expected to sell out quickly.

How Do I Get There?

The tour is based around Glencoe and Ballachulish in the Scottish Highlands.
You’ll need transport other than your Onewheel each day to reach the ride locations. Travelling by car is strongly recommended.

However, if you’re sharing transport with another rider, you can reach the area via the following options:

  • Train: Services to Bridge of Orchy or Fort William

  • Bus: Regular connections from Glasgow to Glencoe Mountain Resort and onward

  • Air: Glasgow International Airport (closest), or Edinburgh Airport with onward travel links

Where Should I Stay?

A range of accommodation options is listed on our Accommodation Page.

If you enjoy camping and want to stay close to the organising team at Signal Rock, take a look at Red Squirrel Campsite, just a short distance away.

Do I Need My Own Onewheel?

Yes.
Bring your own board, charger, and ideally a hypercharger.

Charging points in the Highlands are limited, so fast chargers help minimise socket time for the group.

You should be comfortable riding at least 12 miles on a single charge across mixed terrain, including some more technical trails.

Do I Need a Ticket?

Yes — a Tour Pass is required.

The cost is £30, which helps cover:

  • access to charging points

  • essential logistics

  • a small donation to our volunteer tour guides

If you’re also joining the Race Event, you can save money with an All Access Pass.
Tickets go on sale 30 January 2026.

Health & Safety

We do not have dedicated paramedics on the tour.

However:

  • Ride Leaders James and Andy are trained First Aiders

  • They can assist with minor injuries and help coordinate further care if needed

  • The nearest A&E is in Fort William

  • On certain routes (such as the Big Day Out) we’ll have a support vehicle with a spare board and capacity to collect riders who cannot continue

All riders participate at their own risk. Ride within your ability, take your time, and enjoy the landscape — there’s no pressure to keep up.
We ride as one fløck.

Protective Gear

Helmets, wrist guards and additional protection are strongly encouraged.

As activities take place in public spaces, we cannot enforce PPE requirements — but we urge you to protect yourself for your own safety and the smooth running of the tour.

Charging

Begin each day with a full charge.
Bring your own charger, especially for longer routes with planned charge stops.
Hyper chargers are recommended to speed things along.

On multi-route days, we’ll stop somewhere with charging access (e.g., café or pub) so you can recharge while you rest.
Campers at Glencoe Mountain Resort will have charging available on site.

Weather

Highland weather changes rapidly — expect anything from sunshine to sudden showers.

We’ll remain flexible with daily plans, adjusting timings or routes as needed. Light rain won’t stop us.

Before you arrive:

  • Waterproof (“badger”) your board

    • GT/Pint: silicone around controller connectors

    • XR: more involved — online guides available

  • Pack clothing for warm, cold, wet, and windy conditions

  • Bring sun cream and insect repellent — midges can be lively when we’re stopped or in the evenings
